Accolades

Since the chapter was founded, our members have consistently placed a strong emphasis on campus involvement. In short, this involves our chapter doing our part to help Mississippi State University continue its time honored tradition of impeccable service and hospitality. As a result, our chapter has been honored with many prestigious awards for our commitment to the university, the community, the Greek system, and fellow students.
Listed below are the numerous awards received by our chapter for last school year.

Excellence in Brotherhood

In January 2021, our chapter was awarded the Excellence in Brotherhood award by Mississippi State’s Interfraternity Council (IFC). This award was contested between all 16 fraternities on Mississippi State’s campus and was awarded to Phi Delta Theta for our commitment to brotherhood. We approach brotherhood not as something not as something to be simply learned or found but as something to be lived and acted out in all that we do. It is this vision of brotherhood that we credit for our successes.

Lubbock Trophy

Our chapter received numerous awards and accolades from our national organization for the 2020-21 academic year. Of these awards, the Lubbock Trophy is the one of which we were most proud and excited to receive. The Lubbock Trophy is a one-chapter trophy given to the Phi Delta Theta chapter that demonstrates the most outstanding philanthropic and community service efforts throughout the school year. Our chapter’s dedication to philanthropy and community service is a longstanding tradition and one that each member of the chapter embraces wholly.

National Awards of Excellence

Along with the Lubbock Trophy, we received many awards of excellence from our national organization for the 2020-21 academic year. These awards of excellence were awarded to one chapter in each province who demonstrated outstanding dedication to the respective area of focus. Thanks to the commitment and dedication of our brothers, we were awarded 5 of the 7 awards for the Southeastern Province.

Excellence in General Headquarters Reporting

We received this award of excellence for our professionalism and promptness in filing the necessary reports and documentation to our national organization. Though much of this rests on the president and various executive council members, this would not have been possible without the complete cooperation of the chapter. We are honored to receive such an important award of excellence.

Excellence in Recruitment & Improvement in Recruitment

These two awards of excellence we received both concern our efforts in recruitment. We received the award for outstanding improvement in recruitment for our efforts to constantly improve our chapter through the recruitment and acquisition of new potential members. Our award for excellence in recruitment is related to this as it was received for our sustained dedication to recruitment throughout several years.

Excellence in Philanthropy

We received the award for excellence in philanthropy for our dedication to the LiveLikeLou Foundation. The LiveLikeLou Foundation is a foundation serving those afflicted with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and the families of those afflicted. Despite the many complications of the pandemic, our chapter was still able to help those afflicted and their families by hosting fundraising events around campus, performing yardwork and maintenance for patients of ALS, and being able to raise awareness of the concerns, challenges, and needs of those afflicted. To receive an award for excellence in such a worthy cause is one of our greatest and most proud honors.

Excellence in Community Service

Along with our award for excellence in philanthropy, we received the award for excellence in community service. This was awarded to us for our dedication and perseverance to ensure we fulfilled our obligation to serve our local community. As a chapter, we worked with Habitat for Humanity, building houses, repairing houses, and transporting materials. Along with our chapter projects, individual members contributed by working with the Salvation Army and the Humane Society among many other organizations. Like philanthropy, we consider community service to be one of the utmost important aspects of fraternity life. We believe in our obligation to give back to our local community which supports us so much and have sought to achieve this in many ways. We look forward to continuing our excellent record of service in the coming years.
